Live at Gerde's Folk City
Rev. Gary Davis
A 3 CD Collection
It’s hard for me to believe. Almost 50 years has passed since I was sitting by the stage at Gerde’s Folk City in New York City with my two track Tandberg tape machine recording my teacher, Rev. Gary Davis’ performances. It was the week of February 3rd to 10th, 1962. Rev. Davis was booked along with the New World Singers at the famous bar in Greenwich Village. During the week’s engagement all the new and old folk singers of the Village came by to watch, listen and pay their respects - from Dave Van Ronk to a newly arrived Bob Dylan. . . .

Rev. Gary Davis, Stefan Grossman, Woody Mann, Roy Book Binder, Larry Sandberg
In the mid-1970s I started Kicking Mule Records with my friend Ed Denson. The idea was to have a record label devoted to guitar playing and especially fingerstyle guitar. Some People Play Guitar... Like a Lotta People Don't was the second collection I put together for the label. The idea was to present friends and my teacher, Rev. Gary Davis in an anthology of blues and ragtime playing. . . .

Dance For Two People
Davey Graham
This is Davey Graham’s second solo album recorded in 1979 for Kicking Mule Records. Having pioneered a world view which made the music of the Orient as accessible to aficionados of folk as the seán-nós of Connemara, it has been an open secret for some years that Davey Graham has been pursuing that path to its logical conclusion, and has added the Arabic and Indian lutes, the oud and the sarod, to his repertoire of virtuosity, and, most recently, the Greek bouzouki. . . .

National Fingerstyle Guitar champion Pat Kirtley has assembled a collection of favorites from Chet’s “Golden Era” -- some of the best of Chet Atkins’ vintage classic tunes -- and teaches you the secrets of how it’s done, and how to get the feel of the originals in this double DVD. . . .

John Jackson
The Video Collection
For a while in his youth, he played at country dances, but mostly he just picked the guitar and banjo for his own amusement, and his tastes ranged from the Piedmont blues of Blind Blake, Josh White and Blind Boy Fuller to the hillbilly yodels of Jimmie Rodgers and an old-time banjo style that reached back to the 19th century.
“I can play most anything I put my mind to if I want to,” he would say, with a big smile. . . .

Guitar Artistry of David Bromberg
Demon In Disguise
A singular performer/writer/arranger, David’s remarkable musical versatility and innovative resourcefulness have earned vast critical and popular acclaim. He is also impossible to classify: As one critic perceptively wrote, “David Bromberg fits no pigeonholes. He is part of everything contemporarily musical. He is a product of blues, country, jazz, folk, and classical music. From his early success as a guitar virtuoso, Mr. Bromberg has developed into a brilliant entertainer.” . . .

Welcome!
We offer a wide variety of DVD lessons focusing on various aspects of fingerstyle guitar styles and techniques. Our roster of teachers reads like a "Who's Who" of the guitar world.
Our DVD lessons present the finest in clear and incisive visual education. Each tune is performed in full and then explained. This is followed by the piece being played slowly on a split screen, allowing the student to see both the right and left hand movements. Everything played during the split screen segments is transcribed and presented in a free tab/music booklet that accompanies each video lesson.
We hope you'll also check out our line of historic and concert DVDs featuring terrific guitar performances, including rare vintage footage of guitar masters of the past, as well as concerts by contemporary greats!
